Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Collaborative REsearch And Training Experience (CREATE) in Sensory Motor Rehabilitative Technology (SMART) is a world-class, industry-informed, interdisciplinary training program which equips trainees with the practical knowledge essential to succeed in a rapidly adapting, team-based technological environment and inclusive society.
The goal of the SMART CREATE program is to prepare a diverse group of HQP for careers in the SMART industries of the future. Training technology leaders of the future requires grounding them in the breadth of technical skills and knowledge across the disciplines of SMART, instilling in them leadership and entrepreneurial skills, and ingraining the ability to assess the technological needs of individuals and populations through the lenses of social justice, equity and diversity.
Trainees will gain extensive knowledge in cross-disciplinary collaborative techniques, steeped in principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), while mastering deep knowledge and skill in specific technical areas of Natural Sciences and Engineering (NSE) domains.
