Internship Details

Internships in industry are a key component of the NSERC SMART CREATE training program and will be mandatory for students. MSc. students will complete a 3-4 month internship and PhD students will complete ​a 7-8 month internship prior to graduation from the NSERC​ SMART CREATE Program.

Internship opportunities will be reviewed by each student near the start of the program to ensure best match based on their interests and internship timing, and learning plan. Trainee goals will be identified at the start of the internship and an evaluation will be conducted post-internship to determine whether the goals of the internship were achieved. Students will also receive feedback from industry on their performance and perceived readiness for employment.
